Surya Kumar Yadav came to the spotlight with his performance at the 2011-12 Ranji Trophy season where he topped the charts for Mumbai scoring 754 runs in 9 games. The same year, Surya Kumar was picked by Mumbai Indians. In 2013, he moved to KKR where he played a crucial role in the middle order scoring quick runs and was part of the team that won the trophy in 2014. In 2018, SKY moved back to MI and had a breakthrough season scoring 512 runs. He was also instrumental in the team’s success in 2019 and 2020 which eventually saw him get a national team call-up. Since then there has been no looking back for Surya Kumar Yadav, who has become a consistent performer for both his IPL franchise and the Indian team and was part of the team that won the 2024 T20 World Cup. Surya currently is also the captain of the Indian National T20 side taking over the role after Rohit Sharma’s retirement from the format. His ability to score quickly with his innovative stroke play and deliver consistently saw him being retained by MI for TATA IPL 2025.
